Today we’re going to consider the role that nutrition plays in helping people lose weight. First, it’s important to note that exercise alone may not be sufficient to achieve weight loss! This may come as a surprise to some people. There are several reasons why this is true.
Exercise can be difficult, especially for those who are significantly overweight or obese. A personal trainer will sometimes need to recommend a very limited workout regime initially for those who are unaccustomed to exercise, or who have difficulty exercising. Any exercise is beneficial as long as it can be done without injury, but a limited program will probably not burn many calories. Hence, progress in losing weight will be slow. This is why people who try to lose weight on their own often give up after a short time when they don’t see much progress.

You will need to keep track of the amount of carbohydrates, fat, and protein as well as the number of calories you are getting in each meal. The best way to do this is by keeping a food journal.
